Innersections

June 2001

Just as my paintings are done in a serial fashion, artists’ statements too are only a bite out of time. The ideas and techniques are continually layered one over another. So, to get a better idea of what my work is about, reading my previous artist statement from Aug. 2000 would be helpful.

Innersections refers to the cutouts in many of the paintings. These serve to manipulate and illustrate the micro and macro view. This is but one way I work with relationships in my paintings. By having layers of meaning and layers of physicality, I can demonstrate similarities and connectiveness in the plant and animal worlds.

To be able to paint these ideas, while continually developing my craft, is very rewarding. To be able to enrich other peoples lives by adding beauty to it, is even more so.
